Coil Coating in Ohio

Proposition:
A Coil Coater in Ohio desired a pre-test of recuperative oxidizer, internal inspection, and rebalancing of heat return system to oven and exhaust from oven to the oxidizer.

Resolution:
The SES engineer/technician, during operating conditions tested oxidizer destruction efficiency using the abbreviated EPA Method 25A at 93%. Internal inspection on the following day revealed some split heat exchanger tubes. The tubes were located and identified with recommendations to a contractor of their choice for future repair. After restarting the oxidizer and reaching temperature, the heat return system was balanced to achieve operating temperature at each of two oven zones. Based on calculated LFLs/LELs, the exhausts from the two zones and a headhouse were determined, adjusted, and measured. Prior to leaving the plant site, the SES engineer verbally reviewed the job site activities with concerned personnel. A formal written report followed within three weeks.
