Spray Paint Operation in Kentucky

Propositon:
Manufacturer of small parts for the automotive industry in Kentucky was required to test two older regenerative oxidizers and several paint spraying booths to prove compliance.

Resolution:
Preliminary FIA unofficial tests determined that one oxidizer was performing below required destruction efficiency. Directing the Hydrocarbon Analyzer results to a chart recorder and data-logger identified the operating cycle responsible for the poor results. Inspection of the suspected damper disclosed that the damper was improperly seated and the sealing gasket destroyed. After repairs, we re-tested the oxidizer confirming acceptable DRE results. Several paint spray booths were tested for capture efficiency employing total temporary enclosures (TTEs) as approved by the Kentucky DEP. Official results met and exceeded the KYDEP overall control regulations.
